Placing Bids

Bidding is open to all Copart Members who have active accounts. You can bid from your personal computer, mobile devices, or use one of the computers in the bidding area at receptions, in each of our Operations Centres

Download our Android or Apple Copart App so that you can bid on your chosen vehicle on the go.

Top Tip!  Use our Bid Fee Calculator before submitting your bid. The calculator helps Members to estimate the cost of any applicable fees, based on the amount you wish to bid. Once you've signed in, you'll find the calculator on our Member Fees page and Lot pages. Bid and buy with confidence!

Preliminary Bidding

Copart Members can place preliminary bids, or pre-bids, prior to and during the live auction, as late as two minutes or two units before the vehicle appears on the block.

Your pre-bid will be represented through our VB3 BID4U technology during the live auction – and could be the winning bid if no other bidder submits a higher bid during either the pre-bid phase or the live auction. Note that when there’s a tie between pre-bid and live bid amounts, the virtual (live) bidder succeeds as the highest bidder on the item.

Live Bidding

With Copart’s patented online vehicle auction technology, Members experience the excitement of a live sale from the comfort of their home, office or on the go with our mobile App. You already know how to register with Copart and join an auction. Now let the live bidding begin!

Bid from your computer, by selecting from one of the automatic increment options or input your own bid amount.

Watch the bids come in and compete against other Members to try and win. The highest bidder wins the rights to buy the vehicle! When the bidding stops, the timer will circle to red, and the bidding is over.

At this point, Sellers who have placed a Minimum Bid or Bid to Be Approved on a vehicle can directly Counter Bid the high bidder after the sale ends. Even when Sellers don’t Counter Bid on Minimum Bid or Bid to Be Approved vehicles, the high bid on an offer remains open to acceptance by the Seller until 5:00 pm. two business day after the sale.
