Meet 20-year-old Eddie and his dad, otherwise known as “Fixing Salvage”. Fixing Salvage have bought over 100 vehicles from us over the past 14 years, and our spotlight today? This fabulous Volkswagen Polo Beats Edition.

Briefly explain how you got into buying & restoring/modifying cars.

My entry into buying and restoring/modifying cars is entirely credited to my dad. Without him, I wouldn't have worked on cars or ventured into buying salvage cars. He has been using Copart since their expansion to the UK, with over 40 years of experience gained from running his own body shop. I aim to take full advantage of his expertise.

What do you look for when buying a car from Copart?

When buying cars from Copart, I consider a wide range, typically sticking to cars in the £1500-£4000 range as they sell quickly. I thoroughly inspect all Copart photos, utilising their zoom feature and HD mode. The Virtual Vehicle Viewing service is an invaluable tool, helping me decide which cars to bid on. I focus on CAT S and CAT N cars, aligning with my experience in repairing these types.

What made you choose Copart to buy from? E.g. vehicle stock, purchased from us before, local yard?

Copart stands out for having the largest stock I've seen among salvage companies. The numerous locations nationwide ensure easy access. Having bought nearly 100 cars from Copart and conducting rigorous checks, I've never been disappointed.

Where do you carry out most of your repairs?

I carry out most repairs at my workshop, occasionally working on projects at home over the weekend. I started in my driveway and gradually built up my skills and resources.

What do you enjoy most about restoring cars?

I find immense job satisfaction in turning a ruined crashed car back to its original factory state. While I love witnessing the before-and-after transformation, the most enjoyable aspect is working on them with my dad, who has taught me everything I know.

What do you do with the vehicles once they're repaired?

Once the vehicles are repaired, I document the process through photos and videos, uploading them to YouTube. Subsequently, I advertise the cars online.
