Online vehicle remarketing company Copart UK have expanded their fleet by committing to an investment into a total of 150 new DAF and Volvo based specialist multi-car transporters, which will all be on the road by next year.
Both expanding Copart’s existing fleet and replacing older vehicles with more efficient models, the addition of these new 7 and 8 car transporters brings their total fleet to over 250 and will further support the future growth of their industry leading vehicle collection service.
The new transporters are being built to Copart standards by specialist transporter builders Belle Trailers to accommodate their continued growth across the UK. Having extended their existing order with Belle, a confirmed build schedule is now in place and Copart anticipate all 150 new transporters to be operational by 2021.
Copart are continuing to work closely with Belle during production, developing many exciting new features to improve operational efficiency, safety and environmental impact.
The transporters will be fitted with the latest camera technology to safeguard Copart drivers and other road users; and will comply with Direct Vision Standard legislation, which comes into effect in Greater London from October 2020.
The addition of a new rear ramp will enhance the safe loading of customer vehicles and the latest telematics will deliver greater fleet efficiency; further improving business performance and minimising fuel consumption and environmental impact.
Phil Briggs, Director of Operations Centres, Transport & Engineering said: “This significant investment into our transport fleet will not only expand and strengthen our UK wide operational capacity but will also further cement our position as an industry leader.
“By 2021, Copart will have a 250-strong fleet of Euro 6-compliant transporters which meet all the latest emission standards and we are planning to explore alternative fuel options as we continue to expand in the future. We’re delighted to continue working with Belle Trailers, whose support and expertise have been invaluable in providing Copart with an efficient, safe and environmentally compliant fleet.”
Adrian Parker, Managing Director at Belle Trailers, added: “Over the years, Belle has built a strong working relationship with Copart and are pleased to be chosen to supply them with these additional new car transporter bodies.
“An order of 150 transporters is unprecedented in the industry and we are looking forward to starting work on the builds, which will include modifications in design and specification to fit Copart’s requirements."
