Copart Environmental Policy

INTRODUCTION

Copart UK Limited recognises that our day to day operations can impact both directly and indirectly on the environment. As such it is important that we have and maintain a clear environmental policy that is readily accessible and understandable and that all employees are made aware of their individual obligations in respect of this policy, providing them with all the resources of equipment and training and other requirements to enable these obligations to be met.

 

PURPOSE

This policy clearly sets out the expectations the Company has of all employees to ensure compliance to our policy and the standards are achieved. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) provides a framework for the management of our environmental activities, procedures and reporting.

 

SCOPE

All employees of Copart UK Limited and all its subsidiaries, whether permanent or temporary, based in the UK must fully comply with this policy.

POLICY

Copart is committed to the environmental standard principles of ISO14001:2015 including:

 
  • Comply with all legal obligations, codes of practice and all relevant requirements applicable to our activities including nature, scale and environmental impacts of its activities and services
  • The protection of the environment, including the prevention of pollution, climate change mitigation and adaptation, the prevention of pollution, the protection of biodiversity and any other specific commitments which are relevant to the context of the organisation
  • Sharing best practice and working with relevant bodies to keep up to date with changes and improvements
  • Ensuring that the Environmental Policy and Environmental Objectives are established and are compatible with the strategic direction and the context of the Organisation.
  • Continual evaluation of our performance and compliance to ensure we take opportunities to improve
  • To promote environmental awareness in order to increase and encourage waste minimisation, reuse and recycling
  • Actively reducing water and energy consumption
  • The identification and management of our environmental risks and hazards
  • Investigate fuel use, route planning and best design of vehicles across the fleet to become more efficient and minimise emissions reducing our impact on climate change.
  • Establishing mechanisms to measure and drive continuous improvement in our environmental performance
