A CAT S vehicle has been written off and sustained damage to the structural frame or chassis, but an Appropriately Qualified Person has determined that they can be returned to the road with the right repairs.
A CAT N vehicle has been written off, it has not sustained any structural damage, but may have sustained some safety critical items that will need to be replaced, for example, steering and suspension parts. These vehicles can be repaired and returned to the road.
