Buying Hail Damaged Vehicles

View All Copart News

In the UK many of us will not have seen hail stones any bigger than the size of a pea, but from time to time, freak weather can cause hail stones to fall that are nearer the size of golf balls!  As a result of such freak weather, damage to vehicles and property can be easily caused. Whilst most of the time the damage isn’t too severe, it often results in owners making claims to have their vehicles repaired due to dented bodywork and
damaged windscreens.

Taking a look our selection of hail damaged vehicles you will see a range of vehicles often ranging from Vauxhalls, Audis, Mercedes, Land Rovers and even Jaguars.  The great thing about hail damaged vehicles is that the vehicles are often mechanically sound, however it’s just the body work that requires work and the vehicles can sell below their estimated retail value. The vehicles are often marked as Category D salvage, but with some recorded as a Category C. Of course, a Category C vehicle will need to be repaired to a high standard and the level of work required on vehicle will be subjective and individual.

Who is likely to buy a hail damaged salvage vehicle?
Of course someone who is a skilled in the art of vehicle bodywork repair such as a panel technician/ panel beater would be the obvious answer. Some hail damaged vehicles may just need the dents pushing out whilst others may need a full re-spray as well. Of course there can also be the option to leave the vehicle as is if desired in some cases.
