In mid-December 2018, we announced that BreakerBid4U was expanding into an additional three Copart locations in Chester, Rochford and Wolverhampton and with only a couple of weeks until our new breaker facilities open on January 28th, we thought we’d remind you of the benefits of using this service.
What is BreakerBid4U?
BreakerBid4U is our dedicated CAT B buying service which allows customers to purchase Salvage Category B vehicles and dismantle them for parts.
What is a CAT B and why can’t I purchase it by myself?
A Category B vehicle has been written off as unrepairable salvage and must never return to the road. However, the vehicle will contain multiple salvageable parts which can be pulled from the car and used to repair another vehicle or sold individually.
In order to purchase a CAT B vehicle, you must meet all of the eligibility criteria, hold the correct waste management licences and be registered as a CAT B buyer with Copart.
If, like the majority of salvage buyers, you don’t require a high volume of Category B vehicles, holding expensive waste management licences may not be feasible. As a result, BreakerBid4U was set up to allow you to purchase Category B vehicles, as and when you need them, without having to worry about any licences or documentation.
What are the benefits of a CAT B vehicle?
The three main benefits of purchasing a Category B vehicle include:
- Cost Savings– Not only are Category B vehicles great value for money. But the action of being able to source multiple used parts from one location could save you a considerable amount over buying the individual parts brand new.
- Save Time – Breaking all your parts from one vehicle during one breaker session could also save you time on researching, purchasing and waiting for the delivery of separate parts. BreakerBid4U allows you to repair your vehicle and sell it on quicker.
- Environmentally – Recycling used parts can also help the environment as it reduces the manufacturing demand of new car parts.
How does BreakerBid4U work?
Using the form on the BreakerBid4U page, you can insert the Lot number(s) that you wish to bid on, the maximum amount that you’d like to bid and where you’d like your breaking session to be and our BreakerBid4U team will take care of the rest. If your bid wins, the BreakerBid4U team will contact you to arrange your breaking session.
After you’ve attended your breaking session and removed the car parts you need, we will arrange for the vehicle to be crushed.
Do I need to be a Copart Member to use BreakerBid4U?
No, you do not need to be a Copart Member to use the BreakerBdi4U service. Customers who do not have an active Member account and wish to use the Breakerbid4U service can do so by providing one form of photo ID (i.e. passport or driving licence) and a deposit of £250 or sum equal to 10% of their maximum bid amount, whichever is the greater amount.
However, if you are looking to use the BreakerBid4U service on a regular basis, we recommend setting up a Copart UK Member account for your ease.
I’m based overseas, can I use BreakerBid4U?
Yes, overseas-based Members can still use the BreakerBid4U service. Please ensure that you can attend your breaking session on the agreed day and that you have sufficient storage to be able to transport the dismantled parts to your location.
Where is BreakerBid4U based?
We currently have three breaker facilities in Sandwich, York and Inverkeithing. As of 28th January 2019, we will be adding three additional locations in Chester, Rochford and Wolverhampton. We hope that these additional breaker locations will provide our current customers with more convenient options to break their vehicle from, as well as being able to introduce BreakerBid4U to a whole new group of customers.
